The YONEX German Junior 2024 open their doors for the last time in Berlin

The YONEX German Junior 2024, a highlight of the international youth badminton calendar, got off to its usual professional start at the Sportforum Berlin. Hosted by SG EBT Berlin and the German Badminton Association, 137 matches were played on the first day of the tournament in the men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed disciplines, underlining the extraordinarily high level of sport and international participation.

Tournament Manager Marcus K√∂ster shared his enthusiasm about the successful start to the tournament: “We are overwhelmed by the smooth running and the quality of the matches that were already on show in the first round. The outstanding performances confirm the high sporting level of this competition. The Asian nations have already shown their superiority today.”

The YONEX German Junior 2024 is an integral part of the tournament calendar for 29 nations. The enthusiasm and positive response from the participating teams underline the importance of Berlin as the host city. Ivan Sozonov, Russian world-class badminton player and national coach of India, emphasized the excellence of the tournament: “This is the strongest international youth tournament in Europe. We have always enjoyed coming here and regret that it is being held in Berlin for the last time.”
